Awareness Connection Experience
Imagine you are on vacation. You are sitting at the beach relaxed and comfortable.
Looking over the ocean, you can see the tides coming and going. You just watch, waiting for nothing. You know the ocean is sometimes calm, sometimes has big waves. Whatever appears, it doesn’t bother you. You just sit. Sitting quietly watching the tides coming and going. Let the time pass.
This meditation practice is inspired by Norman Fischer’s book Sailing Home: Using the wisdom of Homer’s Odyssey to navigate life’s perils and pitfalls. When we grasp a goal and try to attain something, stress occurs. Meditation is a time for us to be, not expecting any specify result. The practice of meditation as sitting at the beach waiting for nothing, leads us to cultivate awareness and a bystander attitude towards rising thoughts. Gradually our true nature will reveal.
